Amanda Pape is one of our oldest members here at CFS. She joined over 10 years ago and is a consistent face at our 5pm class. We are excited to honor her as we do “PAPE”, a WOD inspired by her favorite movements.
What’s your favorite CFS memory?
I have many great memories throughout my years at CrossFit. It’s hard to name a favorite, so below are a few:
a. The first time I did kipping pull-ups and handstand pushups, both were big accomplishments for me!
b. Competing in in-house competitions, when people’s families came and you got to know everyone outside of the gym
c. Back when CrossFit was very small we took a party bus to a haunted house, that bus ride got a little crazy ;P
d. All the laughs shared with the crew that would do a morning WOD followed by Sunday Funday
How has CrossFit changed your life?
I have been extremely active and competitive my entire life. I played basketball in college and then professionally overseas following graduation. Deciding to hang up my sneakers to enter the corporate world was a very difficult decision to make. It scared me to think such a big part of who I was for so many years was coming to an end. I wasn’t sure how I was going to fill that competitive void. When I made the decision to join CrossFit Stamford over 10 years ago it was exactly what I needed. It allowed me to fill the void I missed by replacing basketball with another sport that allowed me to be as competitive as I wanted to be! In addition, I greatly enjoy the CrossFit community and the good friends I have come to know over the years. It has been such an easy way to meet people who share the same interests as myself. I met some of my closest friends through CFS!
Anyone in the world could be your partner for a WOD, who would it be?
What is your favorite sandwich?
I am a sucker for Ham & Swiss with honey mustard. I know, nothing exciting (Nick already made fun of me)!
If you could live anywhere for 1 month out of the year, where would it be?
I love the beach and would live anywhere with the beach and plenty of sunshine. If I had to choose one place it would be Hawaii.
If you could write or repeat a workout, what would it be?
50 Wall Balls
50 Box Jumps
50 KB Squats
