1. What brought you to CFS?
My D1 Swimming and Waterpolo careers were coming to an end, however, my desire to compete and train was still going strong. My Co-captain at the time (also a Special Forces Diver) suggested I try a “CrossFit WOD” with him and some of our teammates. That WOD, and in his words “ a simple workout”, ended up being one of the hardest workouts in the Crossfit world! Murph! We ended up subbing the last mile run with a mile swim being the aquatic creatures that we were, but needless to say from that moment on I was hooked.
2. What 1 thing would you like members to know.
I’m pretty much an open book! Ask me anything and everything! I’m always looking for a good laugh and I am also full of totally useless random facts!!
3. What PR are you most proud of? What is your next PR goal?
My most memorable PR would have to be winning a couple of local CrossFit competitions. Nothing feels better than being with others who gave it 110% throughout a grueling day full of sweat, chalk, and suffering. That being said, it doesn’t matter whether you are first; only the effort that you put into each and every work out and hopefully with it, a PR. My next PR goal is two fold; I would like to compete in a throw-down again, and in that comp, I would love to Snatch anything over 225 or Clean 300.
4. If you could have anyone coach you through a WOD, who would it be?
I don’t really like to be coached through a work out, 1) becuase I cant really hear anything and 2) because that little voice in my head is louder than everything else. However, I would really love to do a workout/ Competition with Sam Dancer, solely because I believe he embodies what it is to be a great athlete/ person on and off the competition floor. And because of the fact that he is stupid strong, that maybe through osmosis I would get stronger too!!
5. What were you like in high school?
Pretty much what I am now: an Athlete, Artist, and Classclown…… I was definitely more of a troublemaker back then though so I like to think I’ve matured a bit, but that’s probably wishful thinking!
6. What movie as a kid scarred you the most?
I LOVE scary movies everything and anything from all stars like “Nightmare on Elm Street” to “Jaws”, every Alfred Hitchcock movie, even those terrible B sci-fi films.
7. What is your biggest first world problem?
My biggest first world problem would be when I am watching a movie/show with my go to snack, chips and gauc. Having to keep turning up the sound because the crunch of the chips is louder than the tv!….. Please don’t tell me I’m the only one that has that problem!!!
8. What is your favorite meal, in detail?
Start with Fresh Tortilla Chips and Guac, then move to a few slow roasted Duck Tacos. With the Main entree being a hefty serving of Crispy Pork Belly served over rice with all the fixings.
Dessert would have to be an amazing creation that my girlfriend Katie has me hooked on. I call it “The Amazing Katie’s Cookie Dough Icecream Bowl” she calls it “Cookie Bowl” (I personally like my title better). Fresh Cookie dough, homemade by Katie’s grandma Ro, in the bottom of a bowl…. Microwaved for Precisely 55sec (she has mastered the time, too long and the cookie is too cooked. However at 55 sec its a perfect blend of warm and gooey). Topped with Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream. My go to flavor is Phish Food…… the warm cookie melts the Ice cream so it literally tastes like Heaven!!
Yeah I’ve made this once or twice….
9. If you had $1 million, what would you spend it on? Give details!
I would first buy my wonderful Mother her dream home with a big wrap around porch right on the ocean so she can finally take some time to slowdown and enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Then. I would pay off allllllllll my debt. With whatever is left, I’d invest 75% then take the remainder and treat Katie and myself to an extravagant trip of fine dinning and beautiful beaches around the world!!
10. What are you most grateful for?
I am most grateful for the life lessons that my grandfather has thought me when I was young. Those lessons I take with me everywhere and have helped shape me into the person I am today. To my family, even though we always get on each others nerves, we always love and support each other. To true friends who are always there for you when you need. To my beautiful and loving girlfriend Katie, who is always there for me and is my best friend! And of course my pup Duncan!
