Congratulations to Geoff. Get to know your fellow athlete better by reading his answers to the “Do Work” questions below.

How long have you been CrossFitting? I have been CrossFitting for a little over 2 years.

Why did you join CrossFit Stamford? I moved down to Stamford from New Haven and what caught my eye at CFS was the amount of experience and certifications the coaches had as well how long the gym was open. Also, when I came in for my knowledge and fit test with Garrett he welcomed me in like I have been there for months if not years already and it felt like home.

What is your favorite movement? It was hard to narrow it down to one favorite movement so I decided to name 3: Power cleans, toes to bar, and rowing (I know a lot of fellow CrossFitters don’t like rowing, but I feel I excel at it thus I am one of the few who like it).

What is your least favorite movement? Overhead squats are my Achilles heel. I’ve made a lot of progress from where I started, but there is a lot still to learn and perfect.

What is the best thing about CrossFit Stamford? Its members and coaches. Everyone seems to know everyone and it feels like a family. There is never a dull moment.

Most memorable moment? My first bar muscle up: I tried at the end of classes for over a week and a half and one day working with Nick he changed a few things and it just clicked.

What are your fitness goals 3 months & 1 year from now? 3 months: To be able to connect multiple ring muscle ups. 1 year: Perfect my overhead squat to be not a goat anymore, but a strength.

What are your favorite Paleo & non Paleo foods? Favorite paleo: Salmon with spinach and grilled veggies. Non paleo: wings and pizza (I’m terrible with this combination during football season).

What advice would you give a potential new member? Have an open mind. Don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. Ask questions if you are unsure of something!! (More than likely someone else has the same question). & do what you can do. Competing with yourself and challenging yourself will only make you better. Don’t worry about how much the person next to you is lifting. Just do you.

A celebrity joins the gym, who do you hope it is and why? Even though I’m not a Yankees fan I would love to work alongside Derek Jeter. I think just being in his presence and working alongside him would push me to do my best.

Tell us something we don’t know about you. In my teenage years through high school I was involved in theater and performing arts.
